Waiting for JC to finish pressing buttons

Had a good night with Kelsey. Dad back to work today and I took the kids to Music. Jason had fun and was a bit clingy but well behaved until we went to leave. He opened the moneybox and took out the stamp to stamp his hands while I was saying goodbye. Popped in to work and then walked around plaza. Jason can’t resist the rides and sat in the Barney car and Thomas. I put money in the Thomas ride for the first time as he had been such a good boy. Came home for naps. Had a good afternoon with the both of them. Gave Jason his bath with Kelsey in the pouch. She does not like to be left on her own.

All tubes out - going home

Had a successful breastfeed at 7am and 9am Dr’ happy to send her home if she tolerates her feeds. Well at 2:30 she had kept down all feeds so we were discharged so dad can to collect us. Later picked up Jason from Lynne. Nice to be home again. Dads not well so sleeping on a mattress in the lounge. Kelsey’s sleeping in the bed with me which makes it easier for 2hrly feeds.

Dropped Jason off at N.Lynne and on the way there Kelsey vomited in the car. Came home to change her and she spent the morning in bed with sickie Dad. I did laundry and tidied the house. In the afternoon took Kelsey to the shops for groceries before collecting Jason. We then stopped by a mom of one of the kids that goes to Lynne, she has very kindly organised dinners for us for the week, so we collected some dinners. Kelsey is doing so much better now but thinks it’s daytime between 2pm and 10pm. Makes for a long evening.

Jason came to visit

Dr’s visiting this morning said to but her back to 3hr tube feeds and try breastfeeding so we can get her back to normal feeding. Her breathing and everything else is fine so it’s just the feeding keeping us here. Jason came in to visit us today. So nice to see him. He was so good at the front desk putting gel on his hands he was given a lollipop. He was a bit shy at first but then was about trying to press every button. He was well behaved and had hugs with mum and Kelsey. She is still coughing up her breastfeeds but so alert and looking well. Jason went to Lewis for afternoon to give Dad a break and do some house catch up. Well here’s hoping we go home tomorrow.

Both Mom and baby had a good sleep. AT the 7am feed she had pulled her feeding tube out so left it out and gave her a breastfeed which she took well. At 9 her oxygen prongs were taken out and the plasters on her face removed. She looks so much better and more alert. Gave her a nice bath. The Dr’s were happy with her progress and we could go home today depending how feeding goes. Well the feeding did not go well. She vomited up her breast feeds, so back to tube feeding. Jason spent afternoon with Logan so Dad could come for a visit. She had a bad night and was not settled. I think I got 3hrs sleep. She was put on to continuos feeding in the night which kept her tummy from being empty. Eventually got to sleep around 5 am.

Can I take these out?

Nanny Lynne very kindly has Jason today so Dad can visit. She normally does not work on Fridays. Dad came down to visit us. Dr’s came to see Kelsey and are happy with her status. They have put her on 2hrly tube feeds to get her weight up. She is still very sleepy. Late afternoon she was doing well so had her Oxygen turned down. And again later turned down more. She has not spilt a feed yet, but did bring up a bit after coughing. Dad phoned and said Jason was looking for “Baby” and Mom, poor guy Moms gone again. Around 11pm her oxygen was turned off and she coped fine.

Kidz first hospital

16 August 2007
Dad took Jason to N Lynne. After Kelsey’s bad night feeding, I tried to feed in the morning but she vomited it up and had had no wet nappies in 8 hrs. I put her on our kitchen scales and she weighed 4.07gms same at Friday so no gain in 5 days. Took her to Dr’s at 8:45. She was breathing fast and showing signs of dehydration. Dr said to take her down to Hospital for paediatricians to take a look at her. Rang Dad to come with us. She was looked at in the emergency department and put on oxygen to help her breath, as they said she was breathing like an 80year old who had smoked all their life. Poor girl. She has Broncolitis and the virus RSV. She was admitted to Kids First hospital. They suctioned her nose and throat and she had a feed that stayed down. She is in a big steel cot and she looks so small in there. Later that afternoon she had a nasal gastric tube put down as she was to tired to feed. She is so much more settled now she can breathe so much better.

1st Bottle attempt

Jason went to Nanny Lynne this morning. Kelsey and I went to Auckland Hospital as I am having pain in my tummy above my scar so need it checked out. Kelsey met Jean at parent care and while there vomited. She is now bringing up bile. So on the way home went to the Dr’s. He suggested to try S26 formula for reflux babies and see if she keeps that down. He said she had a few crackles in her chest. Breathing a bit fast. Said to come back if breathing rate increases or she gets a fever. Did some shopping and collected Jason. Tried the bottle around 5:30 but she did not suck well from it. Dad tried to give it to her and she probably drank 20mls at most. She kept down a feed just before bed, but woke every 2hrs but could not get her to latch on for a feed. She coughed and wheezed and got tired quickly and went back to sleep. Had to express off a feed.

Kelsey did not sleep well and cough is worse. Took her down to the Dr’s while Dad looked after Jason. She has mild Bronco litis. She is quite sleepy and bringing up every feed. Jason is better and starting to eat. He loves playing his new music Cd’s in his room. You can go down there and he’s singing along while swaying his body from side to side. Loves twinkle twinkle little star. Kelsey slept most of the afternoon so Jason and I baked banana muffins. Gave Kelsey a nice bath just before Dad came home. Will take her back to Dr’s tomorrow about her not keeping feeds down.

Asleep

Spent day at home with kids Jason up a little but spent most of day asleep. Kelsey still a bit blocked in the nose. Had a time on Dad’s chest getting cuddles. Mom and Dad getting colds to now.

13 August 2007
Had another day at home as Jason still no well and Kelsey has developed a cough that sounds awful. She is not keeping down all he feeds as she coughs straight after a feed and brings it up. Dad came home for the afternoon. Jason got a great present from Dad. An old telephone to play with.

Ready to go out

10 August 2007
Jason up early crying with a temp. He wanted to “mix” when Dad had gone so made crunchies. At 9.00 Lynette from Plunket came for her first visit to look at Kelsey and weigh and measure her. She now weights 4.07kg and is 53cm. She is growing well and is on the 25 percentile for her age. I put her in the front pack today and took both kids out to the shops. She was quite content. Jason got very hot and glazy eyes so took him to the Dr’s on the way home, he has a red throat and fluid in one ear so on antibiotics for the first time this year. Came home for lunch and both kids plus mom had a sleep. Jason was a bit clingy. He had a fever and was very sleepy.

11 August 2007
Jason started vomiting and having diarrhea. Won’t keep pamol down. Not happy being up so put him on couch to sleep. Kelsey has a bit of a blocked nose today but is doing well. Slept well. Took Jason back to the Dr’s. Family outing as Dad needed to carry Jason. He has a virus.

Mainly Music

Went to mainly music.

9 August
Dropped Jason off at Nanny Lynne. Kelsey and I went to Botany shops and purchased some clothes for her for next winter on sale. Did some grocery shopping and then went home. We had some one on one time and she had time on her tummy. She is getting so strong and lifts her head high. She had a bath and hair wash so now she smells lovely. We then went to fetch Jason and she got hugs from Lynne. In the evening we went out to a Guide district meeting. She got hugs from people and a feed then slept the rest of the meeting. She only woke once in the night. Bliss for Mom.
